About Amazonian Plants
We are Anna and Serhiy from Tucson, Arizona. In 2019 we met the Amazonian Master Plants for the first time, and that meeting slowly changed the direction of our lives. What began as curiosity became a daily practice, and eventually this small family business.
How it started
We came to the plants the way many people do - looking for healing. What we found went far beyond what we hoped for. We have experienced the healing and transformative power of these plants firsthand, in our own lives, and we keep seeing it in the lives of the people we sit with. That personal experience is the foundation of everything we do here.
Back to the jungle, every year
Every year, and some years more than once, we travel to Peru to keep learning. We do dietas with the Master Plants under the guidance of maestros we trust, learn icaros - the healing songs of the tradition - walk the forest, and deepen our relationships with the plants and with the people who have worked with them for generations.
A dieta is a simple thing: a small tambo at the edge of the forest, a mosquito net, a notebook, the plant you are dieting, and time. Most of our real learning has happened in rooms like this one. Between trips we keep participating in and facilitating plant ceremonies, so the connection never really pauses.
Why we run this store
Amazonian Plants is our way of helping people access these beautiful plants without having to travel to the jungle themselves. We personally know where our plants come from: when we are in Peru we visit the harvesters, watch how the plants are collected and prepared, and bring back what meets our standard.
Everything we offer is ethically harvested. Your purchases support not only our small family business but also the families and tribes in Peru we work closely with to harvest and prepare the plant medicines.
Looking for a plant you don't see here?
We often carry more plants than we list on the website - small batches come home with us from every trip. If you are looking for a particular plant and do not see it in the store, write to us. There is a good chance we have some on hand or can bring it back the next time we go.
Come to the jungle with us
Some things cannot be shipped. If you feel called to experience the plants where they grow - to do a dieta, sit in ceremony, and meet the maestros and the forest itself - we would love to hear from you. We regularly travel to the jungles of Peru and sometimes bring a few people along.
Fair warning: you will sleep under a mosquito net, bathe in the river, and meet neighbors like this one. It is worth it.
